The Whistler Writing Society Starts Investing for the Longterm with Whistler Community Foundation
Government of Canada supports endowments as financial planning tool with offer to match funds for arts programming
For Immediate Release – Whistler, British Columbia, October 03, 2022
In September, The Whistler Writing Society gave a nod to the future of the organization by opening the
Literary Arts Legacy Fund with Whistler Community Foundation (WCF). The agency fund is a longterm
investment in their mission to promote the literary arts to Whistler’s residents and visitors.
With an initial investment made by a private member, The Whistler Writing Society hopes to build an
endowment and use the annual proceeds of the investment to support programs offered throughout
the corridor.
Matching support comes from Canadian Heritage
The Department of Canadian Heritage offers the opportunity for charities working in the Arts and
Culture space to build an endowment fund. Donations made to the Literary Arts Legacy Fund are eligible
to be matched by the Government of Canada’s incentive program.
A gift today is an investment that will provide a reliable, annual source of funds to help us continue to bring new ideas and voices forward, and to change the world.

Agency Funds offer opportunity to pool investments
WCF Agency Funds give charities the opportunity to pool their investments with 37+ endowed funds and
take advantage of the strong partnership WCF has with Cypress Capital Management.
We’re pleased to welcome the Literary Arts Legacy Fund to WCF’s suite of Agency Funds. The Whistler Writing Society can contribute on an ongoing basis to build this fund. And private donors who wish to leave a legacy to their favourite charity will benefit from knowing a trusted organization is managing their fund so that charity can concentrate on its community mission.
Claire Mozes, CEO, Whistler Community Foundaiton
With Rebecca now at the helm, it’s expected that The Whistler Writing Society, the festival, school
programs, and the new Literary Arts Legacy Fund will continue to grow and entertain the community.
The festival will officially launch the fund at the Sharing Stories Together event October 15, 6pm at the
Fairmont Chateau Whistler. All are welcome to celebrate and enjoy stories, live music and appetizers.
